FISA vote

Our senators blew it for us once again, voting against freedom and the American way by voting for the unconstitutional bit of bung scum known as the FISA Amendments Act. From Balkinization I found this great blog, Ketchup and Caviar, which has a nicely diagrammed before-and-after set of flow charts on FISA before the amendments and afterward. What's really really galling about the way our Congressional delegation voted on the Act is that BushCo acted secretly, flouting the law, and got the telecom giants to flout the law (except for one!) when it was obviously against the law. So here he his, the lamest of lame ducks, and yet Congress votes to prop him up.

Our delegation, being Republicans, can, somewhat understandably, be almost forgiven for flouting their oaths of office (since that's what Republican party loyalty seems to require these days), but every time I ask myself if they'd have voted this way if it was Bill Clinton asking for it, I think, heck no, and get all frothy again.

On another note, and for something a little positive, check out this week's Carnival of the Green!
