Yes, it's that time of year again! the skinny:
what: Ester library lallapalooza IVMe and my fellow librarians (Kate, Margaret, Melinda, Mary, Eric) and a bunch of volunteers (Gerry, Hans, Al, Mike, Sandy, Rachelle, Kris, etc.) are gearing up for the fourth annual John Trigg Ester Library Lallapalooza & Book Bash. Things have been a bit disorganized this year, with a few setbacks (3/4 of the musicians cancelled so we had to get new ones; the pastapalooza organizer and the publicity person had to move suddenly and were thus distracted at a critical time, and as a result the library website can't be updated and a neophyte but very capable pastapalooza person was drafted).
when: March 30, Sunday, 1-6:30
where: the Annex, 2922 Parks Highway (in front of Water Wagon)
Musicians include Chuck Brainerd, Nelson Felix, Desmond Cole, Gabe Hill, Leah Hill, and Raz.
All that aside, the shindig looks to be as fun as ever! The baskets are coming in, Melinda has a list a yard long of potential donors, and the lasagnes are gonna be great. The auction goodies look terribly tempting. I personally am sacrificing my own precious bit of Alaskan collectibility, my UA bobblehead! She won't be alone, however. Maggie Billington is donating a Guy Noir bobblehead, too. Carol Hoefler is donating some homemade rhubarb wine, Sherri Schleiter is donating a basket full of magic (Harry Potter and Narnia books, etc.), Wendy's donated some gift certificates, Evergreen Alaska Mortgage is donating a gift certificate for a four-person silver salmon fishing charter, Far Above Rubies donated a box gift set of soaps and hand creams, Lynn Kulp donated three beautiful felted shoulder bags, Jean Lester donated copies of Faces of Alaska, and Amy Cameron is working on a door hanging.
We've got the t-shirts ready and the posters are going up all over town. I have to get the bookmarks made (featuring the cartoon above) and the auction forms, too.
