Home improvement and energy savings

The Alaska Housing and Finance Corporation is offering help to the public for weatherization and energy efficiency improvements, in the form of a couple of rebate programs. The Home Energy Rebate Program has no income requirements associated; there's a public hearing on making the emergency regulations permanent. Here's a PDF of the emergency regulations, which basically expand the program to any income level, and disregard whether somebody has gotten a rebate before. There are other changes, too, so take a look.

The hearing will be held at:

AHFC
4300 Boniface Parkway in Anchorage
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2008
5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

To participate in the hearing via teleconference, e-mail lwright@ahfc.state.ak.us or call Laurie at 1-800-478-2432 or 907-330-8172, before 1:00 p.m., June 23, 2008. Written comments will be accepted until 5 p.m., July 11, 2008. Written comments can come via e-mail or be mailed to:
Alaska Housing Finance Corp., attn: Laurie Wright, PO Box 101020, Anchorage, AK 99510-1020

Looks like the state is finally getting serious about encouraging people to conserve energy!
