I missed the deadline. The new, extended deadline for the Alaska Press Club awards. Sigh. This means that for sure, for the first time since we joined up, nobody associated with The Ester Republic will get an award this year—unless they submitted work on their own. Jamie Smith is submitting something, I think, but through the News-Miner.
Alas. Our winning streak endeth.

Think you'll still come down for J-Week?
There's always the Society of Professional Journalists contest. The entry deadline is Feb. 4. Google them, or check with the folks at KUAC and UAF... the SPJ is big up there....
We weren't members of the SPJ last year, so I doubt we can submit work, but I'll check. Just too much to do. I doubt that we will get down to Anchorage. Or at least not for the press club event. We may come down for a tour of southcentral this summer, though.
